Read Across America Day is "an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on or around Dr. Seuss's birthday (www.nea.org)." Events, activities and the vibrant atmosphere helps to bring the excitement of reading to children's lives.

This year, Target and Chevy Chase are proud to sponsor RAAD at the University of Maryland for 200 elementary school students on Friday, April 28th from 8:00am-2:00pm at Cole Field House! Volunteers are
not required to stay for the entire time (but are welcome to) and can sign up for time slots that fit their schedules. The part of the day most memorable and speical for each child is being matched with a
university volunteer to read together. Those volunteers are needed from 10:30-1pm. Thus, we are in need of at least 200 volunteers for this even to make it a success.

Anyone interested can email cclips2006@yahoo.com or edavis8@umd.edu with any questions. Please include your name, email, and phone number. If you want to volunteer as a group please include the names and info of all of your group members who are able to volunteer. You will receive a follow-up email containing more detailed information.
