Program Leaders are administrative positions that are vital to the success of the Alternative Spring Break Program. Serving as a Program Leader requires year-long involvement and significant time commitment.  There are four different Program Leader positions, including Concessions, Fundraising, Finances, and Outreach/Team Development. All Program Leaders are expected to be fully committed to training, fulfilling specific duties, and assisting in the success of the overall ASB program.

Fundraising Program Leader:

  • Work with ASB Trip Leaders and staff on grant writing (Pepsi, Home Depot, etc)
  • Organize and schedule percentage nights and participant involvement
  • Weekends at Maryland and TGIF participant scheduling
  • Research and provide fundraising resources for Trip Leaders and participants

Concessions Program Leader:

  • Organize and schedule concessions events (basketball & football)
  • Maintain ongoing contact concessions manager
  • Schedule participants to work at the events
  • Coordinate at least one Trip Leader or point person per game to be in charge of attendance list and money
  • Work with Finance Program Leader to track participant involvement and money

Finances Program Leader:

  • Manage Participant accounts with money from fundraising, letter-writing, and personal payments
  • Notify Participants with their account balances the week before each payment due date
  • Manage finance spreadsheet

Outreach and Team Development Program Leader:

  • Serve as marketing coordinator
  • Coordinate ASB information tabling and information sessions
  • Plan and coordinate Participant interview process
  • Coordinate participant selection process with ASB staff
  • Plan and coordinate ASB Kick-Off in Fall 2008
  • Plan and coordinate ASB Celebration in Spring 2009
  • Assist with planning of Trip Leader retreats and trainings

Benefits and Expectations:

  • All Program Leaders have the opportunity to be a full participant on a trip, and choose which destination they would like to go to.
  • Program Leaders will be expected to attend all trainings (dates and time TBD after selection)Plan and coordinate Participant interview process.
